Hello El Toro YMCA Families!

We would like to take this time to welcome everyone back to school, back to The Y and a special welcome to our new families. I would like to introduce myself; my name is Emma Lowery the new director of the El Toro YMCA program. I have been part of the YMCA family for 5 years. I'm transitioning from a different YMCA program to youth development. I'm excited to get to know all of the families and children this year.

We also have Ms. Kailani that your kiddos have met this week and we hope everyone is excited for the YMCA after school program this year. 

Please read through the information below about the program and do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have. (My contact information is at the very bottom of this message.)


During the YMCA we will:

HEALTHY & SAFETY PROTOCOLS: Our staff team will follow strict guidelines and procedures to help keep all staff and campers safe at the site including intake wellness checks, following all sanitizing procedures, and frequent hand washing. Please send your child to program with TWO clean face masks in case they misplace or dirty their original mask. Thank you for following along with our Health & Safety Protocols and keeping our YMCA a safe and healthy place for both your kids and our staff! 

Check In/Out:

Parents please make sure you wear a mask at check in/out. You will be doing this process in the cafeteria and we ask that any person inside the cafeteria wear a mask.

Our hours of operation are from 1:45– 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and 12:30 – 6:00 pm for Wednesday's only.

Please remember to bring your government-issued photo ID at pick-up, especially for the first few weeks as staff begins to familiarize themselves with parents and families. Please remind anyone that doesn't pick up your child often to bring an ID.


If your child is going to be absent from YMCA after school, please call us at 408.692.5850 and let us know.

-Your child is expected to arrive in the afternoon within five minutes of dismissal. If they have not arrived within ten minutes, we will begin our missing child procedures.

-If your child is participating in any extra-curricular activities after school or if they may regularly be delayed from getting to The Y after school for any reason, please provide us with a note or email with times and dates.

-If your child is sick, they must not attend YMCA childcare. Students must be fever and vomit-free for 24 hours before returning. For Covid-19 symptoms, they may return after a negative test is provided or ten days after a positive test.

-For after school care, you may pick up your child from the program at any time before 6:00 PM.

-The site closes at 6:00 PM. There is a fee of $1.00 per minute if your child is picked up after closing time.
